Create a Capsule Closet: Style That Works for You

Pinterest-ing my way to a dream closet!

It takes time to build create a capsule wardrobe that works for you. But with a few important steps, it's definitely achievable.

After having my colors done by an analyst, I learned so much about what flatters my skin tone and makes me feel great. It was tough to let go of some of my favorite pieces, but sometimes it's just necessary. If you haven't worn it in a year or it's not suited to your current style, it's time to say goodbye. Remember to keep only the pieces that make you feel confident and comfortable!

I remove any items I haven't worn in a year, followed by out-of-season clothes that weren't worn in the last season.

So, after the color scheme, the next step was to clear out the closet and only keep the essentials. I've got a room full of clothes and I just can't seem to choose what to keep and what to get rid of. The system I came up with: I remove any items I haven't worn in a year, followed by out-of-season clothes that weren't worn in the last season. After that, I ask myself: fast fashion or designer? This helps me decide which items to let go of. Finally, I divide the clothes into two piles: no and maybe, and then reassess the maybe pile.

How to create a capsule wardrobe:

  1. Remove all your clothes from the closet

  2. Sort into three piles: Keep, Donate, Maybe

  3. Keep the items you love

  4. Sort by style and color

  5. Build outfits from your staple items for each season

Now that I have my wardrobe organized, I can easily see what I have and what I need. By organizing my clothes by color and style, I can put together cozy casual outfits that can be dressed up with accessories.

Building a capsule wardrobe could be a game changer for busy moms like me. It’s a simple way to reduce stress and create space to focus on things that really matter.
