Word of the year for 2022

Updated: Jan 13, 2022

Have you ever chosen a word of the year? I have chosen one for the past few years and by January 13th or so I don't even pay attention to what that word was and why I chose it. This is very common for most of us who jump on the band wagon of new year, new goals. This is exactly why my word of the year for twenty-twenty two is Intentional.

Intentional: Done on purpose; deliberate.

This sums up who I want to be by the end of the year because I have so many areas of life I want to focus on at once. Slow and steady in small segments. Focusing on just one area is slightly counterproductive for me at this time, because it could be 3 months from now and I have only succeeded 50% of the time with my water intake; then feel like a failure and stop altogether.

I have chosen to review my goals daily and find as many "pacing partners" as I can to achieve the majority of the small milestones quickly. I am hoping to be more intentional in all areas of life: Living a healthier lifestyle, building stronger relationships, budgeting and planning for our future. The list honestly goes on and on I prefer to share my intentional journey as I grow this year right here with you. I hope to share as much as I can along the way.

Some things I plan to share often will be how I plan to achieve my goals. Specific podcasts, books, and social accounts that I find inspiring. I will also share any setbacks I may run into along the way too, to help you overcome them when they happen to you. We all have setbacks so it wouldn't be normal to not talk about them.

I have curated a list of words to help you choose your word of the year. The hardest part about choosing a word is trying to decide who you want to be. Start small or GO BIG! What is one goal that you have been yearning to achieve? Is there a specific area in your life that you have been really annoyed by? Is organization going to be your thing? Running your first marathon and increasing your water intake? Paying down debt? Any of these things can be achieved and focusing on one word will motivate you to achieve them.

What should you do with this list? Choose five to seven words that really speak to you then follow these steps:

  1. What is the biggest and smallest goals you want to achieve? What is something that has been causing you angst or anxiety? What is something that you have wanted to work towards for fun?

  2. Choose your 5-7 words from the list I have curated for you.

  3. Do any of these words really stand out and scream I am actionable!

  4. Write them down. Look them up as well as their synonyms. narrow them down one by one until you know that your chosen word will inspire you daily.

  5. Write your word down. Post it on your letter board. Write it daily in your journal. Write it down in your planner.

Here's the list!

Once you choose your word of the year comment below on this blog post and find me over on instagram @stylishedmomma. I want to create a community to celebrate with as we hit our milestones through out the year.
